Here we are again, the time of year that a certain special ginger golden fur ball has a birthday. No, not Ed Sheeran silly! Floyd! Yes, as of tomorrow he’ll be four years old, a whole year older than last year and what a year he’s had.
This exact time a year ago you’ll remember that all three of us were packed up and making our way to London Gatwick airport to start our adventures in the BVI. With seven enormous suitcases in tow and a small canine awaiting his first ever flight, exciting times awaited us. Not sure anyone could have predicted that exactly a whole year later I would be sat writing this post from an entirely different Caribbean island with just two suitcases in tow and no canine at all. Fear not though, it’s just temporary… our little munchkin arrives here in a matter of weeks. (If he asks… we’re having a simply dreadful time here without him of course, it’s just awful having a few weeks of exploring and not having to wake at 6am for morning pees).
Floyd may just be one of the most well travelled dogs I’ve certainly ever known and his last year will be hard to beat. Let’s see what stamps he’s had in his passport…
I know what you’re thinking… “my goodness that dog has travelled more than me last year”… I hear you, I’ve had the exact same thought process, it’s marginally depressing actually. Anyway, get ready for a photo dump. Blog posts like this allow me to shamelessly bombard you all with exceedingly adorable dog pics. So get ready for multiple images of ginger cuteness, dog vs beach and puppy eyes to make the soul melt into pure slush.
I won’t bore you with puppy photos and i’ll stick to just the activities of this last year. If you can’t resist though, check out his post from last year that’s full of puppy frown lines and balls of pure fluff ‘Floyd Turns 3’.
Ok… maybe just a couple!
All the following photos are our life pre and post Hurricane Irma. So whenever you see his little face, remember that this dog is an absolute soldier. Many people have asked us how he coped in the hurricane and he was a trooper. We were all huddled in a bathroom, Christian on the bath tub, me on the toilet lid and Floyd… well of course, Floyd had a yoga matt and his favourite teddy, Pumpy (the cuddly pumpkin obviously). He takes everything in his stride and I genuinely believe him to be the absolute best dog in the whole wide world and writing this post makes me realise how much I love this silly, sappy and dopey dog. I think it’s important to mention this as you’ll notice a lot of the locations look beautiful and blissful but please do bear in mind they probably won’t look like this for a long time until they recover, or, more depressingly, don’t necessarily exist anymore. What a beautiful way to show our love to the BVI though, we all pray it will look like this once again…
These were taken at our first home in Tortola, we simply called it the Pink House in Cane Garden Bay.
We then moved to ‘Nanny Cay’ marina, our absolute favourite place to live in the whole world. It’s been a while since we’ve sat and scrolled through our beautiful life here, in our beloved number 15…
“So Dad, tell me again about the story of the Merman & his brave ginger sidekick”
(my favourite photo of these two)
This was our last family photo taken just the day before Hurricane Irma… we had a feeling it might be nice to have one last photo in our home. In hindsight, I’m so so glad we took this photo!
As I said before, he was an absolute trooper but he was most upset post-hurricane when everything looked unrecognisable and it smelt so different to him… safe to say we were all in complete shock.
Let’s focus on the positives though… so, jumping ahead nearly a month, we all found ourselves back in the British Isles. Bonjour Jersey (again)!
You can read all about how our Jersey Autumn looked here… ‘Falling Into Autumn’
Just before Christmas we knew we would be heading off to Grand Cayman so decided to head back to the U.K. and the sweeping countryside of Sussex for the festive season. Isn’t he just the cutest Christmas decoration ever?! Unless your answer is a resounding yes, maybe don’t answer this question.
Spot the dog, he’s the only one dressed as himself!
And there we have it… Happy 4th Birthday Floyd! We can promise you lots more adventures and lots more teddies this year and as always, we also promise we’ll ALWAYS take care of you buddy no matter what happens. I think we’ve all demonstrated we stick together through pretty much everything. Though we 100% can’t swear that there will be no more hurricanes, we can totally pinky promise that we won’t ever let you blow away. Wahooo!
See you next year for your 5th Birthday!
