I’m a positive, optimistic, feel the love type of girl…. not in a ‘I hug trees’ kind of way but in that I much prefer focusing on the positives in life. Ignorant as it may be, I try to concentrate as little attention as possible on bad feeling situations. So, my post today is about feeling the love 🙂
I’m a little fed up with how the media is constantly swamping everyone with shattered dreams and tales of failed marriages, cheaters and heartbreak. We hear all about the Hollywood couples headed straight for a black hole. Who kissed who, where they did it, when did the other one find out? Then we put ourselves in that situation and claim we wouldn’t stay, or would we? I don’t want to know…. I want to hear more about the couples still together, the marriages standing the test of time and I want to see photos of them looking at each other like they still like each other.
We’ve all had turbulent relationships, some that went right, some that went wrong and I can’t imagine what it must be like to have all elements of those publicised and recorded. In this day and age we are surrounded by the constant reminder of the ever increasing divorce rate. Statistics shouldn’t consume you, let’s redirect our attention to the good stuff 🙂 My point is that I want to give a shout out to the inspirational couples, so consider this a #couplegoals type blog post. Here are some of my absolute favourites, such cutie pies…
Faith Hill & Tim McGraw (20 years together)
The King and Queen of country music! 20 years of marriage. I just love how totally adorable they are as well as the fact he’s a real life cowboy. Let’s be honest, who couldn’t stay with a man that still looks at you like that after 20 years…*fans face*
Jeff Bridges and Susan Geston (38 years married)
They’ve been married since 1977. She was working at a nearby ranch as a waitress whilst he was filming ‘Rancho Deluxe’. She was sporting a couple of black eyes due to a recent car accident she’d been involved in but… he knew she was the one. After a couple of failed attempts she agreed to dance with him and the rest is history. Anyone that knows me will know that I will find any excuse possible to talk about Jeff Bridges…
Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell (33 years)
This adorable couple have been together for 30 blissful years. This feisty duo have been solid despite never feeling the need to marry each other. Having both experienced past failed marriages, marriage was not essential nor important to their relationship. They met back in the 60’s but it wasn’t until the filming of their second film together ‘Swing Shift’ that they began dating. They then went on to film ‘Overboard’ in 1987. Goldie still claims “Kurt is still my heartthrob”. Love love love….
Emily Blunt and John Krasinski (8 years together)
Ok, so a little curve ball here. If this couple don’t last forever then…. well true love really doesn’t exist! The way they talk about each other makes me melt. Anyone that thinks their husband/wife is genuinely the coolest person they know is a winner in my books.
Kristen Bell and Dax Shepherd (9 years together)
These two are the quirkiest little duo going. They both have had pretty turbulent experiences but they both seem to be the missing piece of each others puzzle. They both seem to possess utter adoration for each other and embrace how weird the other is. There’s power in embracing each others imperfections 🙂
So there we have it, my top 5 couples! If any of these guys break up, I’ll eat my hat….whilst sobbing into a tub of full fat ice-cream.
Tell me your #couplegoals y’all!
Lots of Love
